The entire color palette of the American Southwest contained in a single bag — a vibrant Southwestern serape woven textile center panel in turquoise, gold, pink, navy, black, and white framed by natural tan hand tooled floral scroll leather border panels with hand painted turquoise flower rosette accents, in the dark brown leather frame tote that is the most colorful and most culturally layered Western bag in the collection.
This tote bag is a collaboration between two of the oldest and most beautiful craft traditions of the American Southwest — the woven textile art of the Southwestern weaving tradition and the hand tooled leather art of the Western saddlery tradition — combined in a single bag composition that honors both with the full commitment of genuine craft materials and genuine artisan execution. The center panel of this structured tote is a genuine woven serape textile in the full, saturated color palette of the Southwestern weaving tradition — the turquoise ground carrying the Southwestern sky and stone color that is the most iconic hue of the region, the geometric Aztec pattern filled with gold, pink, navy, black, and white in the complex, symmetrical diamond and arrow motifs that the finest Southwestern weavers have developed across generations of textile art. The serape panel is not a printed fabric — it is a genuinely woven textile in which each color is a separate woven thread, the pattern built from the weaving process itself rather than applied to a plain fabric surface, the individual thread colors visible at the edges of each geometric element in the authentic construction of genuine Southwestern weaving. This woven textile center panel is framed on all four sides by natural tan hand tooled leather border panels — the top and bottom borders and the two side borders each carved in the dense Western floral scroll that covers every tooled surface of these bags with the full botanical vocabulary of the Western leather artisan tradition. At each corner junction of the tooled border — where the top and bottom border panels meet the side panels — hand painted turquoise flower rosette medallions provide the color accent that bridges the turquoise of the serape textile and the natural tan of the tooled leather in the color connection that makes the full bag composition read as designed and unified rather than assembled. The dark brown leather frame surrounds the full front face of the bag in the deep, rich leather tone that grounds the vibrant serape color and the warm natural tan tooled border in the most earthy and most structurally grounding color available in the Western leather palette.
